Geosynthetic Clay Liner (GCL) is a high-performance geosynthetic material specifically designed for anti-seepage applications in artificial lakes, landscape water features, landfills, rooftop gardens above underground garages, reservoirs, oil depots, and chemical storage yards. It is composed of highly expansive sodium-based bentonite encapsulated between a layer of geotextile and a layer of non-woven fabric. Through a needle-punching process, the bentonite core is securely locked in place, creating countless micro-fiber spaces.
When hydrated, the bentonite swells to form a uniform, high-density, low-permeability colloidal gel layer, which effectively blocks water migration and ensures long-term waterproofing. This structure prevents the bentonite particles from shifting in a single direction, thus maintaining consistent coverage and sealing performance even under pressure or minor structural movement. GCLs offer superior self-sealing capabilities, easy installation, and excellent chemical resistance, making them a reliable solution for environmental protection and water containment projects.
