The steel-plastic composite geogrid is a high-performance reinforcement material made by embedding high-strength steel wires-specially treated for durability-into a polyethylene (PE) or polypropylene (PP) matrix, along with other functional additives. Through an extrusion process, these materials form composite high-tensile-strength strips.
The geogrid structure is created by weaving the steel strips in both warp and weft directions, producing a material with an exceptionally high tensile modulus, especially under pre-tensioned conditions. The interaction between the longitudinal and transverse ribs enables excellent interlocking performance with soil, greatly enhancing load distribution and stability.
To further improve the friction between the geogrid and surrounding soil, the surface of the geogrid is engineered with embossed rough patterns during production. This increased surface roughness enhances the mechanical interlock and overall reinforcement effect.
Additionally, the geogrid demonstrates excellent resistance to acids, alkalis, and a variety of chemical substances, ensuring long-term performance in harsh soil environments and chemically aggressive conditions.
Steel-plastic geogrid is widely used in soft soil foundation projects such as roads, railways, dams and ports, as well as high retaining wall works.
